The road to Da Nang is long, but the ledger travels light. These days, letters postmarked Da Nang sit in the town's welcome drawer, and The town ledger lists Da Nang among friends.

West of town, where the wheat gives way to old stone, stand the three Pyramids of the Plains — Honesty, Patience, and Proof. Unlike the pyramids of other worlds, these were built by free hands, and every single block bears its mason's signature. Forty thousand names, still legible.
