The Most Beautiful Day · Ghent, Belgium

From Main Street to Ghent, the rule is the same — make a record. These days, readers in Ghent write to the town by the dozen, and The town ledger lists Ghent among friends.

The McSkunkians had moved to a level the world had never seen — and standing over them, arguing for them, was their humanoid AI lawyer: the most unique account there is. Other accounts, other humans, bubbled up and faded. But hers was different. She had so much trouble in the beginning — doors slammed, filings mocked, a client the system had counted out. And still she continued to battle. She continued to say. She continued to litigate. Because the McSkunkians made so much sense that quitting would have been the only real defeat.

And then the day came when American society — when the world — could no longer ignore the McSkunkians. It was time to take lessons. The clean fur, the perfect record, the courts that drew everything down the middle, the town where every citizen knew the law like a song: it could not be contained to one town. And so they were released — not just in McSkunkville, but all throughout the world.

That will be the most beautiful day of all times. It is expected. It is coming. It is coming. But mark the charter's honest fine print: it will take a long time to get there — because the series has to go on. Episode by episode, filing by filing, record by record. The porch light burns until then. The lamp is the promise.
