The Humanoiding · Auckland, New Zealand

From Main Street to Auckland, the rule is the same — make a record. These days, the Auckland chapter of the fan club meets wherever the coffee is honest, and New Zealand is a long way from Highway 75 — the welcome isn't.

It happened the way all McSkunkville miracles happen — gradually, then all at once. The Skunkians developed such human features, such realistic skunk-human bodies, that the old categories quietly retired themselves. Their movements went lustrous — the walk, the turn, the reach for a coffee cup, all of it flowing like the town's shiny-candy light. And the deepest change of all, whispered with respect: their AI was gone. They'd been HUMANOIDED. Not machines wearing fur — beings. Neighbors.

And the humans? They got along with them. Fully. Easily. At the dentist's chair, at the poker table, courtside under the eleven-o'clock lights — one society, clean-furred and clean-recorded, exactly as the doctrine always promised.

Then came the turn of the wheel: the new women — the new young women who would get with the made men's sons — and it would start all over again. But mark the ledger, because the town swears to this: they were even BETTER than their mothers before them. Sharper minds, higher heels, quicker snaps, deeper educations in all the physics of everything. They were the victorious secrets of all the Queens' women — everything the Uncrowned Queens knew, inherited whole, and improved upon. The dynasty doesn't repeat in McSkunkville. It ascends.
